The Town of Fredricksburg...

The town of Fredricksburg is a quaint old Greman town that has lots of cute little shops down main street and fun places to eat!  It also has some historical sites and museums.  Michael and I had a fun time strolling down the main street window shopping and trying restraunts.  :)

1st Anniversary...

This last weekend My Wonderful Husband and I celebrated our 1st Anniversary!  :D  And I can honestly say it was a celebration of a perfectly wonderful year!  I just love being married!  Especially when it is to such an AMAZING Man!  ;)

We went to a Bed & Breakfast about 5 hours from us in a cute little town called Fredericksburg.  The town had lots of cute shops and restraunts but I'll share that in another post...
Neither one of us had been to a Bed & Breakfast before so it was a fun experience!

The room was so elegant and the bed was amazingly soft and had a TON of pillows!!!!

It also had a huge tub that was so fun to soak in after a long day of walking through town!  :)

This was the dinning room.  The food was really good!

And they had this enormous tree in the backyard that reminded me of MO.

Pretzel Recipe

A couple weeks ago I found this AMAZING soft pretzel recipe that my husband raved about on Facebook.  I had a lot of people ask for he recipe so here it is!  :)  The rolls are AWESOME as bund for hamburgers!

Soft Pretzels

Makes 8 Pretzels

Ingredients:

1 1/2 c. 110 - 120 degree water
1 package active dry yeast
2 T. butter, melted
2 T. sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
4 to 4 1/2 c. flour
10 c. water
2/3 c. baking soda

Topping:
1 egg yolk
1 T. water
Coarse Salt

Dissolve yeast in hot water.  In a large bowl mix butter, sugar, salt, yeast mixture, and 3 c. of flour.  Beat til smooth.  Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.  (Dough will be sticky.)
Turn dough onto a floured surface an knead 6-8min. til smooth and elastic.  Place in greased bowl turning once to grease top.  Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place til doubled, about an hour.
Heat oven to 425.  Punch dough down and turn onto lightly flored surface.  Divide an shape into 8 balls.  Roll each into 24 in. rope.  Form into pretzel shape.
In a big pot bring water ad baking soda to a boil.  Drop pretzels 2 at a time into boiling water and boil for 30 seconds.  Remove with slotted spoon, drain well on paper towel.
Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets.
Mix egg yolk and water.  Brush over pretzels, sprinkle with salt.  Bake for 10-12 min. til golden brown.

You can freeze pretzels when cool n plastic bags.  To reheat, throw them in the microwave or oven.
For Rolls:  Roll the 8 balls of dough into 14 in. ropes.  Then loosely wrap dough around itself to form a coil.  Boil, top, and bake as directed.
For Bites:  Roll the 8 balls of dough into 12 in. rope.  Cut ropes into 1 in. pieces. Boil and top as directed.  Bake at 400 for 6-8 min.

Enjoy!  We sure did!!! :D

Snow!!!

Hello all!  Sorry it has been such a LONG time since I last posted but I do have a pretty good excuse!  ;)  As most of you probably know I'm pregnant!!!!!  :D   Due the middle of June!  I am doing pretty good now, but for the first 3 months I had really bad morning sickness, or more like ALL the time sickness, so I didn't get much done.  I am having pretty normal days now for the most part, except for this growing belly, and am going to try to keep up with this blog better!

Today we woke up to snow falling!!!!!  For the first time this year! :)  Texas winters are soooo different from the IL ones I am used to!  We have had 70 degree weather the last couple weeks and then all the sudden this week we got freezing rain and snow for the first time this year!  Crazy but I'll take it over the solid freezing weather my family has had back home!  ;)

So we are spending the day inside playing games and sipping hot chocolate!  ;)
Michael couldn't work today so I am enjoying having him home.  :)

But the birds are enjoying the weather especially when we put some bird seed out for them!

They are so cute and fluffy!!!

We did end up going out and taking a walk in it though.

Stay warm!  ;)
