Hummingbirds...

This spring I planted some Zenias out our backdoor just to help add some color to the dry TX landscape.  They THRIVED even in the TX heat and dryness!
One morning I was out on our back porch with my coffee and chocolate chips doing my devotion when all of a sudden a hummingbird flew over my flower bed!  I was sooooo excited!  She started being a daily regular at our house and I wanted to keep her coming even after the flowers went away so My Man said we could get some hummingbird feeders!  We did and soon we had 5 zipping around our backyard.  :)  They are soooo fun to watch but VERY hard to take pictures of!  But I've gotten a few and thought I'd share some with you!

They are so greedy though!!!!  I never realized how protective they were of their food supply!  The first one that arrives in the morning is the dominant one the rest of the day.  Chasing off anyone who would dare try to drink out of either one!  They get so busy protecting that they hardly drink any themselves!  :D

Enjoy your day!  :)

Heat, & Grasshopers

Phew!  Things have been SO busy around here, with the school year starting this week here at BBTI!  But I think we are starting to get used to the new schedule.  :)
My Man started teaching Mon. and is now teaching in the mornings and then going to work in the afternoons everyday during the week.  Then he also still has his church responsibilities on the weekends so he is a busy man til the end of Nov.!  I'm so grateful God gave me such a hard working man!  :)
It has been SO hot here the last couple weeks!  Yes, I know we are in TX but we have actually had a pretty mild summer so far with it being mostly in the 80's. Not this week though!  But even with the intense heat it doesn't seem to bother the grasshoppers down here at all.  They are EVERYWHERE!  And there are like 20 different kinds!  If you know me well you know I really like insects so I have had fun taking pictures of some of the different kinds...  It's so cool to see God's creativity in the differences in size, shape, and pattern of these jumpy creatures.  :)

Camping

This summer we went camping with my family (well, except for one of my brothers and a future sister in law :( , to Johnsons Shut Ins State Park in MO.  My mom had gone when she was a child but none of us kids had and I had been wanting to go for several years and it finally worked out for us to go this year!  For those of you who have never heard of it, it is a waterway that has these AMAZING rock fromations in the creek bed that form natural waterslides, little pools, and beautiful waterfalls.  It is just absolutely amazing and soooo much fun!  And your allowed to get into the water!!!! :D
If you haven't been it is a must family vacation spot!

This is a shot overlooking the shut ins...

They also have some pretty trails as well.
We went on one that we thought would be about an hour but ended up being like 2 and a half up hill both ways!  Needless to say we were very ready to get in the water after that!

In some areas the water was deep enough to dive into!  There were people jumping off the rocks into the water, my husband and brothers included.  I thought for sure they were going to bust their heads open on a hidden rock or something.

I have such a handsome husband!  ;)

....and a crazy one.

My Man found me this teeny tiny frog that was soooo CUTE!!!

Wreath

Thurs. I made a wreath for our front door!  This was the first time I have really seriously made one so I was a little nervous.  I looked up some wreath ideas on Pinterest and found some ideas that I liked, got some supplies and a hot glue gun and...Tadaa!  :)
I wanted one that would be appropriate for Summer and Fall so I wouldn't have to make another one 'til winter. :)
It makes our house more homey.
As for our weekend doings;  we don't have too much going on. We are working a lot on or backyard which we have been REALLY fixing up and it is looking soooo cute!!!  I'll have to share pictures this next week of all we've been doing on it.
Then Michael has the bulletin and prayer letter to do this afternoon.  And tonight he is taking me on a surprise date so that will be fun!  ;)
We start teaching the teen Sunday School class tomorrow so that will be a fun learning experience!  (Please pray for us!)
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  :)
Oh!  Thanks for all the comments!  It is soooooooo fun to hear from ya'll! :D

Bread Making

This week and next the students for this years BBTI class of 2014-2015 are arriving.  We have 4 families and 4 single girls coming this year!  :)  So I have been making bread to add to their welcome baskets in their homes as a extra welcome from our family.  This summer I have REALLY caught on to the art of bread making and I am really enjoying trying out different recipes to see which ones will be keeper family recipes.  :)
This one I love to make as gifts for people because it looks so fancy but is easy to make!  This is a Taste of Home recipe:
Try it out! :)   It tastes really good too!

Well, I have dishes in the sink calling my name that I have to get done before my Man gets home so I better run!
Please leave a comment if you get a chance.  I don't have a follow board so I'd love to see who's reading my blog!  :)
Have a great day!

Welcome!
Well, I thought I was done with blogs but here I am starting another one!  ;)
Thanks for checking it out!  Hope you'll check back regularly!
Don't know how often I will get to update with school starting up in a few days, but hopefully I'll find things to share with you all and time to write.  :)
I will be helping in the Nursery 2 days a week this year and will also be the substitute on call.  It will be nice not being the student this year!  :D
I hope to use this blog as a way for friends and family to keep up with us and also share crafts, recipes, thoughts, and experiences as a young house wife.  :)
Well, that's all for now!
